Summer with the first salary: Kurbads and NVA program for youth

During the summer break, Renārs and Kārlis joined the State Employment Agency's Summer Employment Program for Students and gained their first paid work experience at the logistics company Kurbads, based in Riga, Mazjumpravas Street 24.

For today's youth, the first work experience is particularly significant – it helps to understand their interests, develop a sense of responsibility, work discipline, and self-confidence in future career choices. It is an opportunity to learn in a real environment, take on responsibilities, and see how a company operates from the inside. Renārs and Kārlis helped maintain the premises during the summer, took care of the cleanliness of the building facade, and supported the main craftsman in various daily tasks. Every day they encountered new situations and tasks, which provided valuable practical experience and confidence in their abilities.

About the NVA program

The event “Employment measures during summer holidays for individuals acquiring education in general, special, or vocational education institutions” is a state co-funded initiative aimed at promoting temporary employment for students during the summer. It provides young people with the opportunity to gain first skills, abilities, and work experience. The program is intended for students aged 15 to 20 (inclusive) and takes place from June 1 to August 31. Participants can join the program for one or two months, working in state co-funded job positions.
