The car carrier "Namejs" reaches the symbolic one million kilometer milestone
In October, the car transport and logistics company Kurbads' #100 car carrier, named after the 13th-century Zemgale King Namejs, reached the impressive milestone of 1,000,000 kilometers. This significant achievement attests to the vehicle's reliability and the dedication and professionalism of Kurbads' drivers on the road.
Renārs and Sigita Jakobsons, who drove this remarkable distance, shared their experiences, stories from the road, and sources of inspiration.
Sigita: "We're surprised that five years have passed so quickly since the ceremonial christening of the 100th-anniversary car carrier. It was not a goal or a special achievement because, for any vehicle, those numbers on the odometer turn just like the minutes on a clock. This event is interesting because we drove those million kilometers, starting from zero when we received the car carrier fresh from the factory! This is Renārs' third car carrier at Kurbads, with which he has reached a million kilometers, but with the last two, we hit that mark while working together as a team. The story is not about us but about Namejs, who has served for the first million, and there is more to come!"
Renārs adds: "The job of a driver-expeditor is complex; it requires a high level of responsibility, planning skills, and constant attention. The work's uniqueness lies in the opportunity to transport cars all over Europe, making it exciting and ever-changing."
Sigita: "Long distances and challenging road conditions are our everyday reality – we don't even think about it. What matters is psychological and physical endurance, along with the experience we've gained, which helps us overcome any challenge."
Renārs: "The key is to love your job and treat it as a lifestyle. A driver lives in the cabin – you wake up and go to sleep there. You need to know the specifics of the industry, be responsible, and be able to handle stress."
Speaking about destinations, Sigita says: "We've worked together for more than nine years, but so far, we haven't been to Scandinavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Portugal, or Greece. Meanwhile, in his 20 years behind the wheel, Renārs has been to almost every European country. In the past, he's also delivered cars to Ukraine and Turkey."
Renārs and Sigita send their heartfelt wishes to their colleagues: "May we all not only strive for professionalism but also embrace patience, understanding, and camaraderie on the road. Let every journey be safe, smooth, and filled with positive experiences!"
The job of a driver-expeditor embodies the spirit of freedom and constant motion – it is a journey where every kilometer brings new stories and reveals new opportunities.
